Caxambu House: A Natural Material Home with Stunning Exterior and Interior

featured-image

The house located at the end of the street faces two main roads. Located in Jundiai Mirim, Brazil, the house is designed to be modern and stylish with a natural material appearance. The basic structure of the house is adapted to the shape of its own land. Starting from a simple shape, it was then modified and added to the floor plan. Constructing the foundation of the building from the land itself certainly makes the construction process more economical and faster.

The process of transforming the building design is not only based on aesthetics but also takes into account climate, environment, and sun orientation. Due to its location at the end of the street, there are many areas that cannot be used, mainly due to building requirements such as setback lines. The hilly terrain is also one of the factors considered in its design.

This house presents itself in two different appearances. When viewed from the east, the house appears as a single-story structure. However, when seen from the north, the residence displays two stories. This is because the parking area of the house is situated to the north and positioned on lower ground, which creates the impression of a two-story house.

The surrounding environment of this house can be described as quite unique. In one part of the area, there are residences with a natural appearance, harmoniously designed to blend with the lush plantation surroundings. However, in another area, there is a new condominium design that does not harmonize with the land and the surrounding environment.

With the two types of residences in mind, the architect designed the house to represent its environment. There are two elements in the design of this house: the use of stone materials with a heavy and rough appearance symbolizes humanity's aggression towards nature. Meanwhile, the white shell-like structure on the house represents the harmony between humanity and its surroundings. The overlap in the building reflects the architect's desire for a harmonious coexistence with nature in that area.

With its U-shaped layout, the entire space of the house is seamlessly integrated and connected to a comfortable swimming pool. Upon entering the house, visitors are greeted by a cozy living room with comfortable sofas. The interior of the living room exudes a soothing ambiance and is visually pleasing. A television provides entertainment in this room. Beyond being a living room, this space also serves as a gathering and relaxation area for the family.

Right next to the living room area is the kitchen. This room features slanted walls and ventilation openings in the walls. The custom kitchen cabinets are designed to fit the shape of the walls. Various kitchen appliances are also available, including a refrigerator, oven, stove, and it's equipped with an exhaust fan to ensure that smoke from the stove is efficiently directed outside. In this area, there is also a dining table and chairs for breakfast.

Moving on from the kitchen, on this floor, there is also a toilet and a laundry room with access to the back of the house. The staircase leading to the house's garage area can be seen in the middle of the room, right next to the textured wall. The entire space is adorned with white walls featuring a unique pattern, creating a clean yet non-monotonous atmosphere.

On the other hand, the dining area is situated behind the white wall, directly facing the pool area. This family dining space is designed to complement the dining chairs in the kitchen area. The white room is accented with patterned and colorful focal points in the space. Additionally, the textured wall motif adds a vibrant touch to the dining area.

Within this residence, there are four bedrooms: a guest bedroom, two children's bedrooms with a shared bathroom, and one master bedroom. All these bedrooms are connected by a corridor with glass partitions facing the swimming pool. The master bedroom has direct access to the pool through its sliding windows.

The bedroom located in the eastern area has windows at the upper part of the wall, making it quite private from the main road of the residence. From the outside, this bedroom area can be recognized by the surrounding wooden walls and ventilation windows at the top of the wall. Certainly, white color works well in a room like this because it reflects light through its white walls.

The windows in this house are designed to optimize natural ventilation and lighting. The entire space features white color with accents of stone in the garage area and wooden materials on the front of the house, creating a modern yet natural ambiance. Furthermore, the open landscape is adorned with green grass and plants, making the house feel minimalist and serene in every corner.
