Special Shelter for Cats! 13 Designs that Make Cats Play and Sleep Comfortably
Design for animals is now getting more attention. Those who have a favorite pet of course also pay attention to its comfort. Various furniture in the house is adjusted to be used by their favorite pets. Either from functional furniture to just decoration or animal playground. Even IKEA has noticed this problem and just launched their products in the form of special furniture for dogs and cats. Of course, finding necessities for animals is no longer a difficult thing.
After successfully helping cats with a cat house design for auction, architects from Los Angeles, California are once again participating in helping homeless cats in the city. This was initiated by the Architects for Animals movement. The task of the architects and designers involved is to design and build functional and modern outdoor shelters for cats. Their work will be sold at a fundraising event by the non-profit organization FixNation to save as many cats as possible.
Their creativity is certainly limitless. They design various shelters by thinking about how the cats will interact in them. These architects and designers really put their art into practice. Here are some unique designs of cat houses.
1. Abramson Teiger Architects - Ball of Twine
A ball is one of the cat's most beloved toys. Turning it into a shelter turned out to be quite unique. The twine is wrapped into a rigid ball with a hole for the cat to get in and out.
2. Abramson Teiger Architects - White Jack
Back again with the same architect, this shelter is inspired by a traditional Game of Jacks game with a tube structure. The tube can also be used by cats to crawl inside. This is also based on the nature of cats who like to play in a tube or other space.
3. Callison RTKL's - Cathedral
The formation of the cathedral was the inspiration for this cat shelter. Equipped with colored glass windows and disco lights. The triangular structure strengthens the shelter with a unique curved bottom.
4. d3architecture - Upcycled HVAC Equipment Shelter
Who would have thought that an air conditioning circulation pipe could be an inspiration in design. The large pipe can also become a playground for cats with several entry and exit points. The middle is the center of this playground.
5. ES-EN-EM - Meow Miaow
Triangular plywood boards are joined together to form the silhouette of a cat's face. The inspiration for combining the boards is origami, as it looks like it was folded to reveal the lines of the board joints.
6. Formation Association, Terremoto Landscape and Arktura - Flora Gato
This shelter is the only design that gives a touch of nature in it. With some recycled materials, fiber plastic, Spanish moss and Korean grass, this natural shelter was built. Made with a resting place in the corner of the shelter.
7. HKS - Cant we all get along
If you look at this shelter, it certainly has something to do with cats. Yep, there is a fish body on the shelter and also a birdhouse on top. This cat-shaped shelter is made with a wooden frame that is neatly arranged and shrinks to the tail of the fish. Unique and inspiring, as the title suggests.
8. HOK - Seven Chamber Shelter
There are 7 chambers created by the bark tubes. Not only is the arrangement unusual, this shelter is certainly suitable for those with multiple cats as each cat can be in one chamber of the tube.
9. Knowhow Shop - Fictional Cat Exploration Program
This cat shelter is quite elegant. Its black enclosure to its angular shape shows the toughness of this shelter.
10. Kollin Altomare Architect - Cat's Win!
This shelter with the W symbol makes cats more productive. This is because in addition to being a place to live, this shelter also provides a surface that can be used for cats to scratch their nails.
11. Perkins + Will - UnFURled
This design from Perkins+Will is quite artistic. It has an irregularly curved shape with a passage inside. The material used is also quite unique with modular and covered with a striking tosca blue surface in the design.
12. Stantec - Red-Thread And Slatted Plywood Structure
With two separate elements, this shelter forms a home for cats with a dividing partition. Wooden planks arranged into a shape form the base for this shelter while the partition enclosure is designed with a curved wooden structure and red thread.
13. Standard Architecture - Catosphere
This last design is in the form of a round tube made of concrete on the top and bottom and in the center is given a wooden board design that can be opened and closed. Cats can hide or rest inside. The hole created by the arrangement of the wooden boards also serves as a door for cats to enter and exit the shelter.
