Two Design Styles in One House! Unique and Cool!!!

The house, with a floor area of 70 square meters, is located in West Tytherley, UK, and is designed by Stephen Marshal Architects. It boasts a unique appearance, combining a modern facade with an aged aesthetic adorned with plants on parts of the building.

The modern aspect of the house features an ultra-glass facade, allowing the dining and open kitchen area to be bathed in natural light. The lush surroundings of the property, surrounded by trees, create an appealing view from this space.

The homeowners, Elaine Sperber and Nick Manzey, both TV and film producers, have a fondness for natural materials and ample natural lighting. Their house represents a unique and captivating renovation project, both in terms of its exterior and interior.

Originally having an L-shaped layout, the house was transformed into a box shape with the addition of the new building. For Stephen Marshall, the new addition had to have a distinct appearance from the original structure, allowing both styles to stand on their own.

The part of the house enveloped by greenery is the existing section of the residence, characterized by its Victorian-style architecture. However, an intriguing juxtaposition is created with the addition of the modern building, from its base to its roof. Not only is the appearance contrasting, but the materials and structure also employ modern systems.

In designing the renovation of this house, the architect utilized computer modeling to visualize the structural elements. The modern building uses a cantilever system, enabling the absence of support beams in the corners of the rooms and the use of ultra-glass walls.

Stone flooring, both inside and outside the new building, serves as a link between the house and its outdoor areas. This contrasts with the original house, which used brick.

The main entrance of the house is located in the western area, where the original structure stands. The ground floor comprises a living room, dining room, and family room. Due to the addition of the new building, the new area functions as a spacious open kitchen and dining area. This expansion enhances the family room, allowing for a more attractive redesign.

The upper floor is dedicated to the homeowners' private space, featuring three bedrooms, one bathroom in the original building, and the master bedroom, complete with a walk-in closet and ensuite bathroom, in the new building. The addition of the new structure significantly increases the overall space of the house.

The contrasting materials in the two buildings provide a unique character to the property. The Victorian-style building is known for its framed windows, adding to its distinctiveness. In contrast, the modern building features windows and doors made of oak wood. Oak wood is not limited to just the doors and windows but extends to the bedroom flooring in the new building and the interior furniture.

The combination of these two architectural styles in the house creates a unique and unconventional atmosphere. However, the two styles seamlessly blend together, with each appearing as a distinct, stand-alone element.

The outdoor area between the house and the shed on the property is used as a relaxation and gathering space. This outdoor area benefits from the shade provided by trees and the surrounding greenery, creating a refreshing ambiance.
