Eccentric! The Interior Design of this 1001 Nights-themed Hotel is Truly Amazing!
A theme inspired by "1001 Nights" is usually associated with rich, detailed, and colorful elements reminiscent of the Arab world. Pillars and domes with bold colors, complemented by intricate patterns and mosaics, are characteristic of Arabian-style architecture. This is also the case with a hotel themed in Arabian style located in the Middle East. Mondrian Doha, the unique name of this hotel, is situated in West Bay Lagoon, Doha, Qatar.
The Mondrian Doha Hotel boasts 211 rooms, 59 suites, and several public spaces, including 7 restaurants and cafes, a spa, and multiple meeting rooms. The architect behind the design of this building is the renowned Marcel Wanders, known for his bold designs and maximalist aesthetics. His design for the Mondrian Doha Hotel is no exception.
Upon entering the hotel's lobby area, you will be greeted by giant pillars shaped like chess pieces with golden eggs adorning them. Additionally, you will be amazed by a massive golden bell suspended in the middle of the room. This bell is actually filled with crystal lights. Most of the pillars and walls are glossy white, contrasting with intricately patterned tiles.
Moving on to the lobby's interior, don't be surprised to find a giant spiral staircase. This black staircase features floral motifs and gracefully connects floors 1 through 4. There are also giant pillars with embellishments on top, resembling lampshades. Once again, plain monochromatic colors dominate the space, creating a sharp contrast with the intricately patterned round carpets.
Entering the ballroom, you'll start to feel the strong Middle Eastern influence with white pillars similar to those in the lobby, anchored into the carpeted floor. The mandala motif on the carpet is a hallmark of Arabian style. Crystal lights are plentiful on the ceiling with a ceiling adorned with numerous circles.
The hotel's spa area also features captivating interior designs. Although the women's and men's areas are separate, each has its own unique design.
The women's spa area is designed with pink walls featuring rose flower motifs on both the walls and floor. The feminine impression is enhanced by several hanging rattan chairs in a light brown color. White crystal lights suspended from the ceiling add elegance to this space.
In stark contrast to the women's spa area, the men's spa area incorporates Middle Eastern touches with elements such as glowing golden urns in the center of the room. The existing pillars also have curved shapes. The colors used for the walls and floors are black and white with a checkered and tribal pattern, creating a masculine atmosphere upon entering this room.
The design of the elevators that connect guests directly to suite-type rooms is also top-notch, ensuring that guests have a truly memorable experience. Around the elevator corridor, unique mosaic tiles are installed on the walls and paired with silk-patterned carpets on the floor.
Taking a peek into one of the penthouse rooms, it's elegantly designed. From the entrance, guests are greeted with a long staircase matching the lobby's staircase design. This staircase leads guests to the main area of the penthouse. Crystal lights and antique jars are beautifully placed, harmonizing with the unique patterns on the walls and floors.
In the bedroom, there are several Middle Eastern touches, including wall decorations depicting Arabian tales and unique dome-shaped upside-down golden lamps. The floor carpet features a pattern resembling a desert sand expanse.
