Weaving has always been an integral part of Indonesian culture. However, what often happens is that most woven products are limited to small items like baskets, bags, chairs, and the like. BYOliving has successfully innovated the use of weaving as interior elements such as partitions, ceilings, interior shading, and architecture, giving them a modern twist. The woven designs produced don't resemble the conventional weaves you might expect; instead, they incorporate motifs reminiscent of batik and traditional Indonesian textiles, reflecting the country's rich heritage. Several buildings have embraced Byoliving's creations in their interiors:

1 15 Coffee Senopati Jakarta

It's quite unusual and intriguing to find modern café interiors that incorporate local materials. The use of geometrically arranged rattan creates a strong modern minimalist impression while still retaining an Indonesian touch. Woven rattan is utilized as walls and partitions, producing captivating shadow patterns when hit by sunlight.

Menara Astra Jakarta

In Menara Astra Jakarta, weaving is applied to office spaces and the Auto 2000 showroom designed by architect Budi Lim. Woven panels are used on walls, partitions, and ceilings, featuring various motifs that depict Indonesian culture. The material used is special rattan from Kalimantan. The incorporation of weaving as an interior element can reflect Indonesia's culture and richness, but it's packaged in a modern way. The dimension play on the ceiling creates a depth effect that delights visitors' eyes.

Starbucks Reserve Dewata

Starbucks Reserve Dewata offers a unique experience to its visitors, showcasing woven installations telling the story of the coffee production process, made entirely from rattan. Visitors can also learn about the coffee farmers affiliated with the Starbucks Farmer Support Center. These stories are projected onto a massive woven rattan wall used as a screen. Starbucks Reserve Dewata is a place that modernizes Indonesian culture by incorporating local motifs and rich domestic materials.

Byoliving's woven rattan creations are innovative works that positively impact Indonesia's creative industry. Aside from reflecting various Indonesian cultures in each design, Byoliving motivates local weavers to expand their knowledge and create larger woven works that can be utilized as interior and architectural elements.
