MKK House: A Unique House with Natural Vegetation that Makes the House Feel Cool

The two-story house is located in Gavea, Brazil. With an area of 503 square meters, Luiz Gaudenzi, along with Anelice Lober, successfully designed the house with lush landscaping, making it incredibly beautiful and captivating.

This residential project from 2015 serves as a home for a young couple with a small daughter. Sitting on a 10m x 33m plot of land, the house boasts a considerable open outdoor area. Various green plants adorn different areas of the building, from the yard, walls, to the rooftop, creating a lush and vibrant atmosphere.

The front part of the house, facing the main road, gives off a sense of enclosure. It features a long rolling door and grey-colored doors. The entire house's walls are painted in neutral grey tones. However, on the garage roof and around the house's walls, you'll find climbing green plants and trees. Wood materials are also visible in the framework and window leaves.

On the ground floor, you'll find the service area and family gathering space. Upon entering the house, visitors are immediately greeted with the vehicle garage on the left and a mudroom on the right. After passing through this pathway, the next room opens up to the family room, which also serves as the living room.

The family room, complete with plush sofas arranged comfortably in front of an LCD TV screen, provides ample space for family conversations and leisure. The walls of this room are equipped with open bookshelves and decorations such as paintings and various ornaments. The shelves are not just designed at human height but also at a higher level, which required the installation of stairs connected to the shelves. This extra height is made possible because this area is part of the void, allowing for high ceilings that extend to the second floor.

The family room serves as the central hub of the entire house. There's a wide glass door leading to the house's outdoor area. This room is also connected to service areas such as the kitchen and storage room through a door conveniently located in front of the dining table and restroom.

In the outdoor space, particularly in the middle of the house, there's a relaxing veranda area with hammocks and a large sofa for lounging. This area connects directly to the kitchen, which is equipped with glass windows all around. The column supports for the upper floor are adorned with climbing plants, making them blend harmoniously with nature.

On the other side of the outdoor space, there's a marble-floored area with a picnic table and chairs. This place can serve as an outdoor dining area, offering a refreshing atmosphere. It's perfect for breakfast in the morning and creates a romantic ambiance in the evening. This area also features a spiral staircase leading to the homeowner's workspace and service stairs at the back of the house.

The elongated swimming pool surrounded by wall plants and greenery provides a refreshing oasis. The house isn't just equipped with a pool; it also has a sauna, outdoor shower area, and bathrooms at the back. The house can be divided into three main areas: the family area, service area, and recreational area at the back.

This two-mass building design clearly defines the public and private zones of the house. On the second floor of the front mass, there's a study and play area for children, the master bedroom with a walk-in closet, and a children's room next to the study. Meanwhile, in the other mass building, there's a separate maid's bedroom and workspace.

The upper floor of the building utilizes only part of its area because the design emphasizes providing ample space for the living room below through a void. This makes the rooms feel more spacious, and air circulation is excellent within the rooms.

Natural lighting is of utmost importance in this house, evident from the numerous windows and openings throughout the home. The choice of materials also plays a significant role in enhancing natural lighting. The use of white paint inside the house helps reflect light, ensuring that every corner of the house is well-illuminated. Vegetation is a crucial element that keeps the house cool, providing shade and fresh air.
