This 13 Square Meter Mini Apartment Can Be a Comfortable and Efficient Home.
Szymon Hanczar's micro apartment in Wroclaw is relatively small and simple. With just 13 square meters in size, this mini apartment includes a bedroom, a bathroom, and a kitchen. The owner of this apartment is a lecturer at the Wroclaw Academy of Fine Arts and Design. Initially, he intended this small apartment for sleeping only, but he also wanted a design that would make it feel like home.
This living space feels like a storage room and a hotel room for him. This compact design would be very suitable for those who appreciate minimalism and enjoy an urban lifestyle.
The double bed is situated above the built-in wooden wardrobe, with the bathroom accessible through a sliding door beside it. The built-in wardrobe serves not only as a clothing storage space but also houses cleaning equipment and a small-sized washing machine. Below this area, there's also a mini kitchen located right behind the entrance door. The sink, small cabinets, and a hidden cutting board on the shelf can all be used when the apartment's door is closed.
The black staircase, which serves as access to his sleeping area, is connected to a rail so it can slide and open the wardrobe door. The sleeping space is minimalist, featuring only a bed and a uniquely designed bedside lamp.
A long cabinet for storage and a workspace are placed opposite each other and snug against the wall. Besides the functional elements, the designer also incorporated decorative features to make the residence feel cozier. Despite its small size, Hanczar still prioritized the comfort and functionality of his living space. He even installed a hammock near the window area for relaxation.
A dwelling with a single window and white-painted walls is capable of illuminating the entire room and creating a spacious impression. The choice of light wood furniture also assists in reflecting light in the dwelling. Additionally, the bicycle hanger made from a wall-mounted rack adds a unique focal point to the room.
Hanczar himself considers bicycles to be environmentally friendly and fast urban transportation. Due to limited space, he chooses to hang his bike. Besides serving as storage, it also serves as decoration in his dwelling. Plants and lights are also used to add color and brightness to the space.
The choice of bright colors will make the room feel spacious. Additionally, it adds an aesthetic and functional welcoming atmosphere. In this dwelling, it feels like every corner serves its purpose well and looks beautiful. There is no wasted space.
The small bathroom is designed very efficiently. With a toilet, shower, and sink, the bathroom is well-facilitated. The use of white tiles on both the walls and floor helps to visually enlarge this compact bathroom. The sliding door truly saves space inside.
Several smart furniture pieces are indeed found in designing this dwelling. Whether in the kitchen area or in the cabinet shelves, they are designed to be flexible and functional. It's one of the design solutions for small dwellings that can be applied.
