The serene, safe, and fresh environment is undoubtedly the first step in searching for a home. What we typically look for when choosing a house is a clean and comfortable place. However, unlike most others, this British woman chose an abandoned public toilet as her shelter. Laura Clark, a graduate architect, convinced the government to sell her the abandoned public toilet land.

Laura's initial idea was to transform the public toilet into an underground bar, but unfortunately, the government did not approve it due to zoning restrictions for business purposes. As a result, she decided to use the location as her residence.

This toilet, which had been built about 80 years ago, was no longer functional at that time. The 600-square-meter building emitted a foul odor and was very dirty when Laura began the renovation. Not many workers were willing to help her realize her idea, so she had to get her hands dirty during the renovation, from demolishing walls to cleaning the space.

The filthy and repulsive sink area, right?

During the renovation, the choice of materials depended on the condition of the house. Because this underground space was damp, Laura had to choose special wood paneling for the walls.

Laura installed a skylight in the room to provide proper lighting for her kitchen.

Even in her unique home, Laura has a closet for storing her clothing and shoe collections.

The use of open shelves attached to the walls is very efficient for storing items in this elongated house. The use of wooden parquet flooring also adds aesthetic value.

The interior of her home, which is no less luxurious than a high-rise apartment, can be found in the basement. Interesting and mysterious, right? If you judge it solely by its exterior appearance, visitors to Laura's house will be surprised by its interior. So don't judge it by its appearance alone, because great ideas can come from ordinary places and turn them into extraordinary ones!
