A tiny house company has created a new prototype design that they will start selling from mid-2018. It's named "Portal," and the design of the living space is truly unique and compact. The interior of the house measures 18 square meters, and there is a 10 square meter wooden deck at the front. True to its name, "Portal," the use of modules in this tiny home is adapted to its portal grid frame.

The interior dimensions of this house are 7.5 meters by 2.4 meters. The length of the house is divided into three modules, which naturally separate the use of space. Like most houses, it consists of a family lounge area, a work area, a dining area, and a service area that includes the kitchen and bathroom. The wooden deck outside the building measures 3.6 meters by 2.4 meters and is used for semi-outdoor relaxation and welcoming guests.

The predominantly white and wooden brown colors in this house create a bright and spacious feel within the living space. The brown color adds a natural wood touch that makes the living space more inviting. The grid lines in each room also help determine the placement of furniture, adding to the overall design and functionality of the interior.

The tall vertical lines create a sense of height within the living space. Windows on both sides of the building provide ample natural light into the house. The vertical grid pattern forms its own rhythm within the home, making the rooms feel more comfortable and organized. This is evident in features such as the shelves and windows, which are harmoniously integrated into the building's walls.

In such a small living space, efficient use of the area and furniture is crucial. Although this house has limited width, the high ceilings allow occupants to utilize vertical space effectively. For example, a suspended bed in the ceiling area is implemented. When not in use, the bed can be raised up, and when needed, it can be lowered for comfortable sleeping. This bed is located in the ceiling area of the relaxation zone, making the most of the vertical space available.

The bed is operated using a remote control, making it easy to raise and lower. The long lounge sofa is concealed when the bed is lowered. The bed, designed by Nathan Nostaw in collaboration with the Tiny House company, is considered ergonomic and safe, providing a simple solution for small living spaces.

On the ceiling's wall, there are ventilation windows, allowing air to flow in and out of the building. Additionally, the light entering from the top wall is reflected onto the ceiling, spreading throughout every corner of the living space.

In the central area, there are shelves displaying decorations and decorative plants. The table with cabinets on both sides of its walls is used for storage. What's unique is that there's an additional hidden table within the white table's shelf. This extra table can be used as a work desk or dining table. As for clothing and other items, there are closets on the wall in the lounge sofa area, providing storage space for personal belongings.

Moving on to the next area, which is the service area, the well-designed and minimalist mini kitchen features an oven and a sink. There's also a washing machine to complete this service area. The bathroom includes a toilet with a sitting bowl and a shower. The kitchen and bathroom are separated by a sliding door. The space above the bathroom is utilized as a relaxation area where occupants can read or lie down comfortably.

The wooden deck at the front of the house creates a wonderful ambiance for its occupants. Enjoying the morning while sitting comfortably on the sofa feels refreshing. Various plants growing around the wooden deck add to the natural beauty of the area. Undoubtedly, this makes for a great relaxation spot for the residents.
