Back to Nature: Hunian Villa di Lombok dengan Desain Alami

The house certainly needs to be designed to be comfortable and blend with its environment. A good and serene house design will make the dwelling more pleasant for both the family and visiting guests. One example is the Maleo Residence villa in Praya, Lombok. It is designed naturally and in harmony with its surroundings, making it look integrated.

Using local materials and adopting a look that fits the local culture, architect Mitchel Squires & Associates designed a 900-square-meter residence beautifully and sustainably. This three-story dwelling features a unique facade on each side, exposing natural materials used in the dwelling, from natural stones to glass walls.

The ground floor consists of a void area with parking space. Uniquely, to enter the house, residents can enter from any level. The first floor is a living area with various spaces for family gatherings, including a living room, dining room, kitchen, guest bedrooms, and various refreshing areas.

Indoors, upon entering the house from the ground floor stairs, visitors will immediately see the living room area adjacent to the dining area. A long dining table with many chairs allows the residents to invite friends and extended family to dine inside the house. There are two types of kitchens: an exposed kitchen adjacent to the dining area and a kitchen for cutting meat and various other cooking ingredients.

As for the outdoor area, residents are pampered with a relaxation area near the swimming pool. Sunbathing space and a relaxed lounge are available in one area. The swimming pool is designed with an infinity pool view where the boundaries of the pool are not visible. There are stone seats designed in the pool, allowing those swimming to also sit and relax surrounded by water.

One area adjacent to the guest bedroom is a large hall designed with wooden floors and natural stone columns. There are hanging seats at various points in the room that can be used for relaxation and yoga activities. Additionally, the natural ambiance is enhanced by the surrounding plants.

Moving to the second floor, there are various bedrooms. From a bedroom with a king-size bed and en-suite bathroom to a children's bedroom with a single bed. Additionally, there is a master bedroom with a considerably large en-suite bathroom. A balcony complements this main bedroom of the residence.

Apart from the main dwelling, there is another separate building located at a higher elevation than the main residence. In this area, there are two complete bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and an open area with a private swimming pool for sunbathing and relaxation. These two bedrooms are separate from each other, connected only by the sprawling green courtyard.

The design of the building with various levels and different entry areas prioritizes the privacy of the homeowners. Besides the maintained privacy, the design includes open spaces with glass walls. This ensures that individuals inside the house feel an open and unisolated ambiance from their surroundings.

With the solid-void concept, this villa truly creates a unique appearance for the building. The use of natural stones harmonizes with the outer walls of the building. The entire bed view faces the open pool area.

The openings throughout the rooms allow for proper circulation within this residence. Cross ventilation naturally occurs within the dwelling, allowing fresh mountain air to replace the hot air exiting the house. This villa is designed to take advantage of the 180-degree view of Jabon Hill and Selong Belanak Beach.
