This spacious house is a residence located in Alibag, India. Covering an area of approximately 558 square meters, Studio PKA from India designed a vast and environmentally friendly open space landscape. The design, directly connected to its natural environment, is an intriguing aspect of this house.

The Mango House, as it is called, doesn't only exhibit an environmentally friendly impression on the landscape but also within the structure itself. The distinctive feature of this house is the exposed brick material, integrating an antique appearance that blends with the lush greenery surrounding the property. This natural appearance connects the outdoors with the interior, making it feel comfortable and simple.

The name "Mango" is derived from the abundance of mango trees growing in every corner of the property. This house serves as a second home for a family residing in Mumbai. It can be described as a family villa situated away from the city's hustle and bustle, accessible via ferry from the nearest port.

The presence of mango trees not only inspired the name but also guided the layout of the house. Designed amidst the trees, the house remains cool due to the abundant shade from the lush trees, providing relief from the heat and sunlight.

The house is designed to offer views of the entire landscape from various angles, with entrances on all four sides of the building. Inhabitants can view the yard and garden through glass window openings in the walls. The open atmosphere makes the house more comfortable and in harmony with nature. The design allows free circulation and seamlessly connects each space with the outdoors.

Various exposed materials like exposed brick and concrete were used to impart an "earthy" or grounded ambiance. This choice of material aligns with the natural elements visible on all sides of the house, such as wood, rocks, and terracotta.

This two-story house is divided into two zones: public and private. The ground floor is used for gathering and interaction among family members. Various family discussions can take place in comfortable corners, both indoor and outdoor.

The ground floor comprises spaces such as the living room, dining area, kitchen, lounge, bedrooms with attached bathrooms, and a deck area where occupants can relax while enjoying the view of the pool and garden.

Meanwhile, the second floor serves as the private area, housing a family room, master bedroom with a walk-in closet connected to a bathroom, a children's bedroom, and a balcony facing outside. The air from the lower floor can circulate well to the upper floor through a void present in the circular staircase area and the dining room.

The exposed brick in this house provides a traditional appearance, adding to the warm ambiance. The entire house is harmoniously blended into a compact natural unity. From air circulation and lighting to the inhabitants within, everything is designed to be free-flowing, making the house comfortable and tranquil.
