OH House: A Unique Japanese House with a Garden Around It
This 2013 project is located in a densely populated area of Niigata, Japan. The area is quite beautiful because of the many areas covered with garden greenery and the distance between houses is quite wide.
OH! This house itself is designed for a family with four members. The three main things in the design of this house proposed by the client are the existence of a garden in the design of the house, bookshelves that can store large amounts of books, and a closed kitchen space.
This two-story house has a fairly attractive façade with a combination of white and brown colors. The scope of the building gives the impression of floating because the shape that comes out exceeds its basic scope.
Different from other functions, the ground floor is used for the master bedroom, bathroom, children's bedroom, parking lot, and garden that surrounds the building. The entrance to the house is equipped with a mortar floor that goes directly to the center of the building.
The right children's room is located near the entrance so children are free to do activities inside and outside the house. Not only that, the children's room is also close to the stairs, making it easier for children to reach all spaces in the house.
Then on the top floor, the second floor functions as a gathering floor. Like the family room, kitchen, and dining room, the bathroom is on this floor. Floors equipped with void openings to make the house cooler are also available on this floor.
The rooms on the upper floors are bounded by partition walls. Functional rooms are laid out in one row with side corridor access. By placing a bookshelf and a 12-meter-long counter on the wall of the corridor. The existence of this furniture also makes the center point of the house on this floor.
The trees that fill the garden area on the ground floor tower high towards the top floor. Of course, the condition of the house feels more beautiful and comfortable with the trees. Large windows located in the skin of the building provide an open and cool room atmosphere.
The scope of the building which is also the roof provides space relief in the outer and inner spaces. In addition, the skin of the building protects the inside of the house from various weather conditions such as heavy rain, solar heat, and also provides privacy space between neighboring houses.
This house is fairly simple and can meet all the activities of family members in the house. Its unusual layout makes the house very attractive by giving the public area upstairs and a private area on the ground floor. This house also gives attractiveness to the exterior.
