An architect not only understands what their client wants but also considers the surrounding environment. Rather than going against nature, some architects choose to design a building that integrates with nature without harming it. Like in the design of the building below, instead of cutting down trees on the site, the architect chose to incorporate the trees into the design, turning them into a new structural element of the house.

Tree cutting can have significant environmental consequences and is often linked to global warming issues. Many negative impacts can occur when trees are cut down. Additionally, growing trees takes a considerable amount of time. Furthermore, the presence of trees adds to the beauty of a building. By giving more thought to the environment, these building designs feel more unique and beautiful.

1. Ring around a Tree - Tezuka Architects

This building in Tachikawa, Tokyo, Japan, serves as a kindergarten school and a waiting area for school buses. Blurring the lines between the exterior and interior, the tree at the center of the building becomes the focal point when you look at it.

Standing at a height of 5 meters, the building is equipped with open areas and restricted-height spaces for crawling and playing children. The floor is covered with a carpet for the comfort of the children. The walls of the room are made of glass, making the classroom transparent from the outside. High railings are designed to ensure the safety of the children when they are outside. Buildings like this also start teaching children from a young age to cherish their environment.

2. Casa Vogue - Alessandro Sartore

The Tea House by Archi-Union is built right behind the Archi-Union office building. This building is a renovation of a damaged traditional tea house. With three sides closed, only one side faces the open space, and there is a naturally growing tree near the building.

Due to environmental considerations, the building was designed to blend in with its surroundings and not harm the naturally growing tree in the open area. This unique design integrates nature and concrete into one. The tree is allowed to continue growing to the second floor, which serves as a balcony in this building.

4. Niavaran Residential Complex - Mohammad Reza Nikbakht

This apartment complex is located in Tehran, Shemiran. The Shemiran area is surrounded by mountain valleys with many mature trees. A plot of land was allocated for this building project, which involved the natural environment. Designed to let the natural environment flourish, architect Mohammad Reza Nikbakht created a beautiful building integrated harmoniously with the trees.

This six-story building combines existing trees on the site and brings people closer to nature. Tall trees are allowed to grow in open areas both inside and outside the building. Even the floor design is unique, adapting to the size and growth of the trees.

5. Lakeview Residence - Alterstudio Architecture

This house in Austin, USA, accommodates a family of four. Surrounded by greenery, the views from all sides are incredibly lush. However, there's something interesting about this house, especially on its terrace. There are two tall trees on the terrace, which appear to be flourishing on top of the roof.

Surprisingly, these large trees were allowed to grow and seamlessly blend with the house. The terrace ceiling has square-shaped openings to accommodate the growth of the trees. It's a unique and eye-catching feature for anyone who sees it.
